Frequently Asked Questions

Schmutz is the first everyday haroset: a sweet blend of fruits, nuts, and spices that Jewish families have made for thousands of years each Passover holiday. We think it’s too good to eat once a year, so we’re crafting snackable, spreadable harosets inspired by recipes from across the diverse Jewish diaspora.

Schmutz is available at select premium retailers in the USA. You can also buy Schmutz here on our site, or sign up for our newsletter to hear about upcoming pop-up events.

Schmutz is naturally vegan and gluten-free, made only of nuts, fruits, and spices. It’s also certified kosher by our friends over at Star-K.

You can treat Schmutz like you might treat a jar of jam or salsa: refrigerate after opening. We recommend eating within a few weeks (but we eat it quicker).

In the rare event that your package is lost or damaged in transit, please contact us at shalom@eatschmutz.com. If you aren't completely happy with your products, email us within 7 days of receipt and we will refund your order.

I'm Michael — a Brooklyn Jew who loves haroset and global Jewish cuisine. I work in elder fraud prevention by day and am building Schmutz on nights (and shabbats, but don't tell my rabbi).
