What is Schmutz?

Schmutz is the first everyday haroset: a sweet blend of fruits, nuts, and spices that Jewish families have made for thousands of years each Passover holiday. We think it’s too good to eat once a year, so we’re crafting snackable, spreadable harosets inspired by recipes from across the diverse Jewish diaspora.

Where can I buy Schmutz?

You can buy Schmutz here on our site, or sign up for our newsletter to hear about upcoming pop-up events. Schmutz is coming soon to select premium retailers in New York City.

Is Schmutz healthy? Vegan? Gluten-Free? Kosher

Schmutz is naturally vegan and gluten-free, made only of nuts, fruits, and spices. It’s also certified kosher by our friends over at Star-K. Schmutz is not certified Kosher for Passover.

How long will my jar of Schmutz last in my pantry?

You can treat Schmutz like you might treat a jar of jam, salsa, or chutney: refrigerate after opening. We recommend eating within a few weeks, if it’ll last you that long.
